About Shimori Cyber

Building practical skills through real systems.

Shimori Cyber is where I document my cybersecurity, systems, infrastructure, development, and automation journey through practical projects, technical experiments, and lessons learned along the way.

My Journey

Learning by building.

My background spans communications, IT systems, Linux administration, networking, infrastructure, technical support, troubleshooting, development, and cybersecurity.

I have always learned best by working directly with systems: configuring them, testing them, breaking them, troubleshooting failures, documenting what happened, and improving the design.

Shimori Cyber is the place where that process is made visible. The goal is not simply to list technologies, but to show how I use them in practical environments.

How I Work

Build. Test. Troubleshoot. Improve.

01

Build

Create working systems, environments, workflows, and prototypes.

02

Test

Validate behavior, security, reliability, and usability.

03

Troubleshoot

Trace failures, investigate causes, and understand how systems behave under stress.

04

Document

Turn the process into repeatable, understandable technical knowledge.

05

Improve

Refine architecture, security, workflows, and implementation.

Current Focus

What I'm working on now.

Cybersecurity

Security fundamentals, system hardening, threat detection, secure architecture, and practical defensive workflows.

Linux & Systems

Linux administration, workstation design, services, self-hosting, system configuration, and infrastructure management.

Networking

Segmentation, DNS, firewalls, network architecture, troubleshooting, and secure connectivity.

Automation

Scripting, workflow automation, repeatable tooling, and reducing manual technical processes.

AI-Assisted Workflows

Local LLMs, development assistance, model evaluation, structured prompting, automation, and technical analysis.

Development

Web development, software troubleshooting, Git workflows, technical systems, and practical implementation.

Background

Systems, infrastructure, and technical problem solving.

My professional background includes communications and IT work with the Canadian Armed Forces, along with independent systems administration, technical troubleshooting, infrastructure work, and software development.

That experience shaped the way I approach cybersecurity: understanding the full system matters. Security is not isolated from networking, infrastructure, users, software, or operations.

My current focus is continuing to deepen those skills through practical security work, labs, projects, development, and technical documentation.

Where I'm Going

Stronger systems through continuous improvement.

The goal is to keep expanding practical capability in cybersecurity, infrastructure, networking, automation, and development while documenting enough of the process to help others learn from it.
